General
Why did you leave your most recent position?

Completion of contract. Initially 3 months which was extended to 6 months.

What kind of hobbies do you have, or what do you like to do in your free time?

I am a musician. Love all forms of music. Love marine engineering, the sea and ships.

Read bios on successful people.

Love good food and restaurants.

Is the yachting industry a career for you, or more of a sabbatical?

This is my carreer of choice to see out the next 5-10 years of my working career.

Describe what type of situation on board you feel you would fit in best?

My years of experience and maturity allow me to feel comfortable in a variety of different situations. I adapt as is expected as a professional. I have total respect for Owners and Masters. My qualification in Business Management makes me sensitive to efficiency, good communication and cost control of my department.

Engineer
How often do you you feel you should have to help out serving meals or tending bar?

All my previous sea experience has expected multi skilling and pitching in wherever necessary. Part of sea life.  My offshore experience with 6-8 crew expected very close teamwork.

How would you handle a situation where you feel the boat is not 'ready' to leave the dock, but the departure date cannot be changed?

I will never allow the Crew to be in danger. The vessel will not leave if safety of lives and vessel is in jeopardy.

How important is it to you to remain clean and presentable when there are guests on board?

I am a stickler for grooming. This trait is carried into the Engine Room. Impecable grooming at all times is my preference as a professional.

Between the Mate and the Engineer, who do you feel should be 2nd in command?

The tradition is that the Mate assumes command.

How important is having an unlimited budget vital to the smooth operation of a luxury yacht?

Unlimited Budget?????? WOW!!!  Cost control and efficiency are paramount.  A budget should be set up on historical maintenance and cleaning expenses. Allowance must be factored in for projected Planned Maintenance. The challenge is to keep costs as low as possible without comprimising the condition of the plant. Mistakes due to inexperience cause huge amounts of money to be squandered.  Not acceptable.
