| General |
| Why did you leave your most recent position? After 6.5yrs I felt that I need a new challenge. My owner was not happy with my decision, but I felt it was time. |
| What kind of hobbies do you have, or what do you like to do in your free time?
I love sailing, Kiteboarding/surfing, diving, wake boarding, surfing, water skiing, Spear fishing/free diving and all general water sports. |
| Is the yachting industry a career for you, or more of a sabbatical?
Yes it is my career. |
| Describe what type of situation on board you feel you would fit in best? I can fit with any vessel. |
| Captain |
| How much freedom do you feel an Owner should allow his Captain in terms of hiring crew? The captain should interview all crew members, if the owners wish to be involved with the selection of hiring potential new crew I have no problem with that. |
| What do you do when you disagree with the Owner? I always respect the owners views. |
| How do you handle conflicts between crew members? I bring both crew members to the bridge and make them hash out the problem, so we all can resolve the issue. If that doesn't work I will do what ever is necessary for a smooth running vessel. |
| How much down time do you feel a yacht needs each year, to ensure a safe and happy crew? The vessel needs down time after each season for maintenance and to give the crew members time off. |
| How much time is the maximum time that should pass between emergency procedure drills on board? I do drills once a month or if 25% of the crew have been changed. When a new crew memebr comes aboard they go through an orientation with the mate and and the captain. |
| What do you feel is the most important quality for a successful Captain to have? Authority, Passion and a can do attitude. Hopefully so the owners, guest and the crew to have memorial moments in yachting. |
