| General |
| Why did you leave your most recent position? I recently took a sabbatical from year-round yachting to get married and set up our home in Savannah, GA (US). During that time, I worked several relief positions and completed some deliveries. I am now returning to year-round yachting and I look forward to continuing my career as a full-time and year-round captain. |
| What kind of hobbies do you have, or what do you like to do in your free time?
My hobbies are supporting conservation efforts for the Amur Tiger, renovating my turn of the century home, reading and keeping fit. |
| Is the yachting industry a career for you, or more of a sabbatical?
Yachting is a career on which I have been working for the past ten years and plan to definitely plan to continue. |
| Describe what type of situation on board you feel you would fit in best? I need structure and professionalism to bring out the best in my crew. I lead by example and expect a great deal from my crew. In my relationship with the owner, I need to have his trust and confidence, which are earned. I need to have the leeway to run the vessel professionally and efficiently. |

| How much freedom do you feel an Owner should allow his Captain in terms of hiring crew? The captain must have first refusal in the hiring of the crew, after appropraiate candidates are selected by me, I will present them to the owners for their decision. |
| What do you do when you disagree with the Owner? I will communicate my position and then we will have to come to a mutually agreeable decision. If the issue is the safety of the vessel, I am unable to compromise. |
| How do you handle conflicts between crew members? I will not play off crew members against one another, I will listen to both sides individually, analyze the issue and have a face to face discussion between the crew. They, in the end, must abide by my decision. |
| How much down time do you feel a yacht needs each year, to ensure a safe and happy crew? This depends on the program and the degree of attention the guests require. When no guests are on board, I like to give crewmembers an average of 1.5 days off per week. |
| How much time is the maximum time that should pass between emergency procedure drills on board? one month. |
| What do you feel is the most important quality for a successful Captain to have? A sucessful captain must be an excellent communicator and highly organized. |
