110% “No Bad Apple” Guarantee: |
Past performance is a good indicator of future performance! And while Crew Unlimited cannot guarantee the future performance of any candidate, we can guarantee that we have done our own due-diligence to assure that we are not promoting the career of a known ‘Bad Apple.’ But, if a ‘Bad Apple’ should happen to slip through the cracks and be submitted to a client where the candidate is subsequently employed and then fired for just cause, we will refund your placement fee plus 10%!
|
How we define a ‘Bad Apple’ is a candidate who has previously:
- Been fired from a job for an illegal activity (i.e. drug use, theft, DUI, assault, etc.), or
- Been fired from a job for gross misconduct (i.e. drinking on the job, excessive drunkenness, sexual harassment, etc.) or,
- Abandoned/quit their position while paying charter guests were on board, or
- Otherwise, as the management of Crew Unlimited deems appropriate
|
(For an example of other grounds for termination and/or designation as a 'Bad Apple' click HERE to read Wright Maritime Group's Crew Agreement.)
|
How we define 'due-diligence' is to attempt to confirm by email and/or telephone the past good performance of the candidate, utilising the contact information provided by the candidate, all referees:
- that the candidate has provided us contact information for, and
- that the candidate has given us permission to contact
|
How we define ‘known’ is that we were made aware of misconduct prior to submission, by:
- a response to our reference verification attempts, or
- a Captain or previous Employer who informed us of the misconduct, AND
- where we were able to confirm such information through another credible source (i.e. the candidate, a crew member on board at the time, etc.)
|
Our intent is that Crew Unlimited will only help to further the careers of individuals who act professionally and with integrity, so that yacht owners may continue to enjoy the ownership experience. We cannot, however, guarantee the proper vetting of a candidate based on information which is unobtainable or unavailable to ourselves. Because it is illegal to check references that the candidate has not given us permission to contact, or to use alternate resources to contact a previous employer, if the candidate does not list the reference or employer on his resume or his on-line profile, then we cannot legally contact that employer.
Likewise, if the reference does not respond to our attempts, we shall not assume a positive or negative response. As a result, there will be times when Crew Unlimited will not be able to confirm that each reference of a candidate is good.
|
That’s why we do not rely solely on information obtained by each individual reference in determining who is eligible for representation by Crew Unlimited. That determination is based on, among other things, whether or not we have received a reference response where the candidate is ‘NOT ELIGIBLE for rehire,’ reference reports of misconduct or poor performance weighted against reference reports of good conduct or performance, and based on their performance history in positions placed by Crew Unlimited.
|
The determination that a candidate is a ‘Bad Apple’ and is thus no longer eligible for representation by Crew Unlimited is a decision that we take very seriously, and will be made at the sole discretion of Crew Unlimited management.
